Lost oem xp pro product key sticker will MS help me?

As title says, I have lost the little product key sticker off my old PC. Peeled it off and tossed it a desk drawer. Of course, I needed to reinstall and have lost the product code. Will MS be able to help me out with replacing my code, as I still have the original XP Pro disc, or am I screwed? I am NOT asking for pirated codes or reference to warez sites - I just want my own XP Pro back.

EDIT
Never mind folks, I must be tired to post something so lame. I have figured it out myself by... GASP! searching with Google. Will be asking MS for product key replacement help via phone support in AM.

I'm going to bed.

If you have XP Pro installed on your computer, there are a couple of programs that will retrieve it for you. Just don't reformat until you retrieve it.

Just use google to find the programs.. (its my bedtime too..)

I highly doubt microsoft will do anything for you. If you bought the PC with the sticker already on the PC it was an OEM and MS doesn't support OEM versions. Just because you have a disk doesn't mean you ever had a valid license. The license is not tied to the disk in any way other than the type OEM, Retail etc... Use the programs listed above if you can boot into Windows, there is no other way to get the license #. Magic Jelly Beans, AIDA32 both of these programs work well AIDA32 even works in Vista. I'm fairly certain that if you cannot boot into Windows it is over.

The best place for the license sticker is on the PC case. The only way to lose it is to lose the PC and if you lose the PC it doesn't matter anyway.

I replaced my case with a larger one for increased cooling, peeled off the sticker and misplaced it, as I said above. The original XP Pro installation was written over as I tried to repair then reinstall it. The original m/b, mem, power, etc were purchased from Monarch computer. According to MS, they should be able to help by replacing the product key for me. If you have purchased retail, then MS will help you directly. I'll see how it goes with Monarch. Contacting them period and speaking with a live person has been difficult lately.

I have an Extra Genuine Windows XP Home Edition CD Key if anyone needs it PM me. the first guy to pm teh meh will get it! any request after that will be disregarded.

You can successfully validate Windows via teh telephone with Microsoft 🙂 it's genuine, but I removed it off my PC and installed Windows XP Pro so i am not violating any law. it isn't installed on any PC ATM and I won't be needing it! willing to give it away for fr33!

That's a kind gesture, but yes you would be violating the XP EULA. Since the COA was affixed to your PC there's a 99% chance it is OEM and shipped with that particular system, therefore it cannot be transferred to a different computer. Even then the MS activation rep will probably ask for the brand and model of the pc that the COA belongs to.

Unfortunately, that's true. However, I understand their reasoning; people are pirating Windows like nothing lately.

OEM = you need to contact the OEM for problems like this. Part of the reason OEM copies are cheaper is MS doesn't maintain the support infrastructure to handle these sorts of things.
