Well I'm in a tight situation right here. I lost my wallet a few nights ago and someone turned it into the police. I had a fake ID of someone I do know under my regular drivers license. The ID has been expired for 2+ years but worked like a charm. I just called the station and an officer wants to talk to me about it. Can they do anything about this? Can they even take it away?

all they can really do is take it away. you werne't caught using it and you could always say that you were just holding it for this other person or make up some b.s.- theyv'e got no proof that youv'e been using it.

worst case scenario they clip it or take it away.

true, they should hire mind readers to find out who's wallet it is.

and it is funny. there's no reason you should have a fake ID.

Tell them that you found it that night and you were planning on returning it to the right pwner.

They'll probably try to make you tell them that it's a fake id, but just dont admit it.

Tell 'em you're holding it for your friend, who happens to look like you, but is over the age of 21 interestling enough.

Yeah - say the you have some sentimental attachment to it - and bring up some story as to why it is that significant . . ..

How would it be an illegal search? It was left in a public setting in which anyone had access to it.

right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures..." Would your wallet include your papers?

Anyway, the license expired in 2001.

LOL

You lost it. They looked for identification to find who to return it to. They found two.

You = Owned.

He is a freshman at Iowa State (iastate.edu) majoring in Computer Engineering. Probably 18 or 19 years old.

I don't think it would pass the "unreasonable" part.

Is it a forged ID or is it just someone's old ID? If there hasn't been any tampering to it and it is a genuine ID, but just old and belongs to someone else, they can't do anything. Maybe take it from you but that's all.

And yes, it is amusing. :p
