Lost my voice! ahh!

I've had a really bad cold for the past few days and lost my voice this morning - this has never happened to me before.. Is this normal? Can I possibly have something other than a cold?? I feel that going to a doctor over a cold is pretty silly but I've never lost my voice before.. Any way to bring my voice back?? I'm making an appointment with my doc as soon as I click POST MESSAGE - but it'll be hard since I can't talk!
 
Might be strep throat, or you could be dying. Try gargling with warm saltwater and some decongestants with expectorants. When you see the doctor, they're going to stick a cotton swap that is about a foot long in your throat but try not to puke on your doctor. They will inspect the swab and get back to you. They will tell you about a week later that the throat culture was inconclusive and that you may be losing your pelvis.
