Must have lost it getting gas (I almost always use cc) or on the checkout at the supermarket.

So now what, go to the police and file a report of the last possible location?
If I drive there, it should be okay since all the info is in there computer (in case I get stopped).
Then apply online or goto DMV on Monday for temporary- I heard it takes 2 weeks to get your permanent.

Argh, what are the chances of someone using it for criminal purposes?:|:(

Only lost the driver's, no CC.

Check if your site has an online DMV site where reordering lost licenses is easy.
NY has such a site, maybe your state does as well

Can't till Monday, just the main concern if anyone else has gone through this is the possibility of id related fraud, if I should be worried at all.

Yeah, I can def. do this through the NYS DMV online site.
Thanks, just wondering if I can get a temp. one at the DMV, or if I really need to have a license at hand in case I get pulled over. Maybe better just to wait...

Yup, driving is technically fine without a license, as long as you actually HAVE a license.
It varies by state I imagine, but here in Ohio you have a certain length of time to show proof of license if you are stopped and do not have your card on you.

as far as fraud goes - I cannot really answer that. I know some forms allow you to use whichever form of permanent identification you wish - either Social Security or License Number.

But most such forms require more than one form of identification, and well... unless someone who happens to look just like you picked up your ID, I'd imagine you should be safe.
Then again, I am not really up to speed with the criminal underworld and how exactly people go about committing fraud with stolen or found things such as SS # or licenses.

Maybe someone who looks like could buy it from someone to use for purchasing alcohol, if you are over 21? :p
That's about as much as I could possibly think of, but again, I don't quite think like a fraud. I can think like other types of criminals, but fraud/ID theft confuses me like no other. Apparently our systems are very easy to get around as long as you have the right ID numbers.

that's the only thing I was really thinking.
Having your SS# AND License # conveniently located on the same card is just asking for trouble if lost.
I had my SS# on my first license, but when I turned 21 I didn't have them put it on their. I have it memorized at this point.
