Hi all,
I'm trying to help a friend out on his computer.
He has Windows 2000 professional and about 2 weeks
ago his cdrom drive and dvdrom drive came up "missing"
when you look under "My computer".
When you go into device manager there are some yellow
exclamation marks on the 2 devices with a comment that
the registry might be corrupted.
Of course, he has no ghost image or backup to restore to and
I'm wondering if there is a "fix" to get the system to "see" the
drives or am I looking at reinstalling Windows 2000 Pro completely?
I took a blank hard drive I had and did an install of Windows 2000 Pro
on it and you can see the cdrom and dvdrom on that new installation just
fine so I know it's within his windows installation and not hardware related.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jim
