I had an extra 10 gig hard drive lying around and decided to install it side by side my exsisting window xp hard drive. I installed ubantu on the extra drive and figured i would swap ide cables when i wanted to change from one operating system to the other.
Installation of linux went smoothly no problems what so ever, however when i switched cables and went back to xp, I lost my award bios splash screen. The system boots up with a black screen and then fades to white. The next screen is the normal raid configuration screen that comes on (which I have no raid) then again the screen goes black and fades to white, this is normally where the a8n sli splash screen comes on. Then the windows xp log on screen comes on and all is normal.
Can someone tell me why i've lost these 2 splash screens by simply changing hard drives from one OS to the other?
I've tried clearing the cmos, enabled the sli splash screen in the bios, reinstalled the nvidia display and chipset drivers and still nothing I do can get these 2 splash screens to come back. The only thing i haven't done is flash the bios. Any ideas or suggestions what caused this.

Vantec 520 watt supply
Windows xp pro sp2 with all updates
1 gig ocz memory
LCD Cornea monitor 1024x768 at 75 hertz.... changed to 70 & 60.. no joy
