Lost Microsoft Office Suite during HP OEM restore??

A friend of mine has a HP built to order computer she got from Office Depot just under a year ago. She inadvertantly did the recovery thing during a computer foul up.
She had Microsoft Office pre-installed when she purchased the PC. After the recovery she is being prompted to enter the key. She has been round and round with HP help with no success. Even though she has a receipt showing she purchased the Office Suite they are saying she did not and that if she did she should have received a copy of the software with her computer. Of course she did not since it was a OEM install.

She is pulling her hair out going round and round with the HP "help".

Is there anywhere on the PC that the key would still be stored even after the recovery process. She did say there was a note that said that during the revoery that Office would not be restored. This seems odd to me since the recovery was supposed to just revert everything back to the way she originally received the computer.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what she can do?

Check all the docs and software packs that came with the computer. The key may be there. It may also be on a Label on the computer. If all else fails, go back to Office Depot with the receipt and explain to them that they installed it and you were never given the discs or the key. It would then be up to them to straighten out a mess they and HP created. You can try running Everest Home Edition or Belarc Advisor .. it may find the key, but I doubt it, since a reinstall was done. But you should run these programs after everything is up and running and print out the results. It will tell you a lot of specs about the machine, including Product and License codes for all the software.
