Lost my kindle on a plane today. Really stupid of me.
By the time I noticed and ran back to the gate, the plane had already left for the next destination. Boy - they turned that plane around FAST. I was only gone for 15-20 minutes.

any ideas how to get it back, except relying on Continental and/or the honesty of the finder?

Two years ago this post would've sounded like a back woodsy version of a Richard Reid type attack. ;)

Wife lost her ipod touch on american. We went back 20 minutes after we left, plane was still there, but the ipod wasn't. It wasn't in lost and found either...my guess is a rear passenger passing by picked it up or the cleaning crew pocketed it.

I left my company phone at Heathrow airport in the terminal (5) departure lounge. Last text came out of it 9 minutes before I realized it was gone. I had gone down the ramp and onto the plane. Security and stewards were kind enough to look for me, but did not find anything. It must have come off my lap or out of my pocket as I stood up to get on the plane.

Once I arrived in Thailand and found a way to contact my company $2743 worth of calls from US and Canada to Jamaica had been completed on the SIM.

To the OP - that sucks man, I feel for you :(

Changed the name of the device to PlsCall"MyPhone#" and sent a "book" to the device asking for it to be returned with my contact info.
Airport couldn't help me (supposedly).
Contacted Continental and made a lost claim.
Obviously removed all 1-click payment from the Kindle.

Man this sucks so bad.

You should've called out, "Glitch! Homing beacon!" in the terminal.

</obscure, possibly-accurate reference>

sounds like your kindle bought a ticket for a runaway train, like a madman laughin' at the rain.

It's too late now, but if you get another one, it's very cheap to get a personal articles policy added on to your homeowners or renters insurance that covers all risks. I got one for my iphone that only costs me like $75a year and it covers any kind of loss. No deductible and it covers loss, theft, damage, etc.

Yeah until you use it. Then your rates will get jacked up and you are paying an extra $75 that you could just put into a saving account for instances when you lose shit and your homeowners rates wouldn't go up.

It doesn't work that way with personal articles. Exactly how long have YOU worked in the insurance industry jackass?

yes but the person with it can unlink the kindle and then make their own account and tie that kindle to it.

Contact Amazon too. Each kindle has a unique id number. If someone tries to use it they will know even if they make their own account.

Worst case someone who knows that the kindle has been unlocked might find it, then all bets are off :(
