Hello,

I rebooted my computer the other day and for some odd reason one my HDDs lost the Drive letter and all information associated with it. Meaning that all the files are still on the drive just I have no way of accessing it. 🙁

Anyone know of a program that I could use for free sto get my files back.

Phil

If you're running XP Pro, what does the disc management mmc show? Also is it showing up properly in the bios?

Furi27,

it's showing:

Disk 1
Basic
74.53GB
Online

I knwo the HDD is working fine. It's hsowing up oin the BIOS correctly I jsut can't get to the data.

Thanks
Phil

If the data isn't worth a nominal fee (and based on the prices of a lot of software, $80 is nothing), don't worry about it. Just format and move on.

Start doing backups! If you have important data, backing up is a necessity.

This might help, I don't know for sure though.

Have you tried accessing it via dos (assuming it's not an ntfs partition)? Or trying it in another computer?

i could be wrong about this, but i seem to remember that if you use a program like partition magic, you are able to make partitions while keeping the data..

I agree. GetBackData has saved my butt many times after screwing up w/ Partition Magic.
