Waiting till about 30 seconds to put a large bid in,

and what happens?

My browser logged me out. By the time i logged back in, it was over.

Now i'm never gonna find a broken LG vx4500 to fix my broken one.

yup, that sucks. You probably should have just put in a bid earlier instead of trying to snipe it. I've had the same thing happen to me before.

I got sniped by someone the one time I tried to buy something on egay (nice video card). I was really pissed. I had the thing tied up until like the last 10 seconds. Sorry man, but as a result I have a hard time feeling sorry for you. I do hope you find what you need to make your repairs though.

i probably could get it repaired by the manu. but it would cost almost as much as a new phone. Replacing the screen isnt hard at all. Its one cable to the key pad and re sodering 3-4 wires.

I wonder if any other phones have cross adaptable screens. Like the 6000 and the 4600?

How about finding one on the FS/FT forums?

People on there can always find something for you...

When will you people learn, there's no such thing as sniping. Just bid the max of what you will pay for it and either you win or lose.

I've never lost an auction unless someone bid higher than I was willing to pay. Seems like an easy concept.

I sometimes like sniping. Like when an Item I'm selling isn't going too high, but the last minute, it shoots up. Makes me happy.

I usually just bid my highest amount I would pay for an item and leave it at that and let the proxy take over or just use the 'buy it now' option.

i understand, bid what you want to pay and thats it.

But whats the point, if i put in $40 on an auction that $20, now im vulnerable to spend $40 on something that i could get for $25-$30.

Yes its my own fault, but theres no sense of making yourself vulnerable to spend more than you have to. Like the previous post said

that sucks... if I intend to bid at the last minute, I'm usually refreshing like mad already so I know I'm logged in and set.

Actually my last win was a close call... I set an alarm on my PDA to remind me 15 minutes before its end the next day. Next day came and I didn't notice the alarm until it had gone off 10 minutes before... both my PCs were off... I powered on my laptop and the damn thing decided it wanted to do a checkdisk. !@&*$^!*@$ I ran into my room to power on the PC and got to the auction with 2 minutes left. Phew...
