Lost all of my CD rom's in windows

Im Running windows xp and a few weeks ago I foreced aspi drivers. I really screwed thing up by doing this. I noticed a few days later after a reboot that my drives are missing from explorer. In the hardware manager it says loaded drivers for cd drives but is unable to locate hardware.
I tried uninstalling, changing cables and master slave jumpers and putting a single drive per channel but nothing is working.
Does anyone know how to fix this or is it another reinstall of windows for me?

Thanks

I just spent the week before installing windows and all my programs. I was hopeing I didnt have to do it again.🙁

With a reasonably fast computer it should only take about 1 hour 45 mins to delete partitions, re-create, format & re-install windows with all the drivers you need. It aint all that bad really. I do this process very often at work. I do have to say though, that having a .gho will help you a lot in the future, especially if you like to fiddle with windows 🙂

It only takes an hour to install windows. but setting up the options and installing all my programs takes the time. guess I will transfer my files onto another PC and format again.
