Lost all data--any chance of recovery?? Please help.

I used Ghost and restored an image file to the wrong partition (lame excuse: Up too late and in too much of a hurry). Any chance of recovering what was NOT overwritten?? The image file uncompressed is ~700 MB. The partition is 4.5 GIG. The Ghost documentation says there is no chance of recovery but I need to make sure. Any help would be appreciated.

FYI, the data is mostly family albums that I have scanned and restored. I did a lot of work (~2.5 gigs) and I would hate to lose it all.

Thanks,

AB

I have read that often you can recover material like this if you haven't written over it (which it sounds like you may have done). You may be able to recover only part of it. So don't do anything for the time being.

Talk to an expert if you don't get a really good response in this forum. I'm going to try to find what I read on this topic recently.

This is why you need to make backups. :)

P.S.
Norton ought to know.

the way ghost works, you can't.

it depends on how the image was restored on that partition.

take it to a professional.

don't do anything to that drive now.

FYI, backup also refers to all files. including your data and operating system root directory.
