It got pretty windy here last night. I'm not exactly sure what gale force is, but that's what the news was calling them. Anyways, when we got back from our shopping trip, we found that a pretty good sized tree had fell down. It was dark, so I waited until this morning to check it out. It looks like the top of the tree is only about ten yards away from the neighbor's house!

This is going to be fun to clean up.

UPDATE:
gettin it chopped up
FIRE!

We started getting the tree cut up and split. There was a lot of brush, so we did the only reasonable thing...made a fire the size of a small car!

Why is the boat trailer touching the tree like that? That is a good-sized tree though. Did your roof get damaged too? A few minutes with the chain saw with take care of the tree...but then what to do with the pieces? Bigass bonfire FTW.

When that happens to me, I haul the wood out to the road. It disappears in minutes. No exaggeration.

No damage to the house at all. I want to wait for things to dry up a bit before I start cutting it up. We have a woodburner and so does our neighbor, wood is always in demand around here.

I'm not sure what's with the boat trailer.

I assumed you had it chained to it.

Yeah, that would make sense. :) Man, is he lucky the tree fell the other way!

wood is always in demand anywhere. I used to drive around afer a storm like this and look for downed trees. i would offer the homeowner to take care of it for say $50. so i would get a bunch of firewood and $50.

now it seems everyone knows people want the firewood. But every now and then you will see a offer to take it if you cut it up.

The salmon are running, the tree was heading for the river to do some fishing.

The wind, did not bring that tree down. The disease, rot, and/or, insects did. You could have seen this over a year ago. Never the less, sharpen that saw blade, grab a 6 pack, and gid-er-done.
