childhood best friend. ever since he got his first guitar in 6th grade the guy could have gone absolutely anywhere he wanted with music. never knew why he didn't. lost touch with him the last few years and just saw him around here and there. the last two thursdays i've been at a small town bar here and saw him. had a beer/toke with him and just talked like nothing was wrong. my mom woke me up this morning saying he hung himself in his room early this am. i feel so god damn helpless about it knowing i had talked with him a few hours before he did it and never thought twice about it.

rip josh, you were one of the most talented guys i met.

Don't beat yourself up about it, you couldn't have known.

Sorry about your friend... sucks when that shit happens.

Pretty crazy. I had a similar situation with a guy I worked with. Very ambitious...seemed to have everything together...than one night he just shot himself. Makes you sad you weren't able to help.

I'm sorry for you. :(

Suicides are tough to deal with. I've had two friends do it and recently a coworker.

Like Platypus said, totally not your fault. You're not a mind reader.
Sucks to hear about losses.

My condolences to everyone that he was dear to.

Don't you mean

"I don't understand suicide. I've never killed myself. Probably because I have willpower, morals, and integrity which the op's friend obviously lacked"

read his addiction thread.

this isn't the place for it..

The the OP, that is really sad to hear. Don't beat yourself up about it, though, as there is feasibly no way you could have really helped, as sad as it is :(

obviously there is a time and a place for what's quoted. it's just too bad you're not intelligent enough to know the differences.

get fucked.

Condolences.

I don't know if it helps but studies have shown that people who want help usually drop hints, and people that are truly determined to commit suicide rarely do.
