So I've had this Labrador for about 12 years. We always have this afternoon stroll after I come back from work. It's a good way to keep in shape, usually less than a mile. He has lately become accustomed roaming around the block without a leash.
A few weeks back (not sure when it exactly happened) something tragic happens. I come home take a quick shower and change to my jogging outfit. It's a little cold here in Aurora, Ontario. Jake is happy to see me after a long day, runs ahead of me after I open the door. A few seconds later he is runned down by this asshole of a driver. My beloved pet dies in my arms looking at me in the eye knowing the inevitable.
The car of this guy has a dent (small and fixable). He appologizes that he didn't see my dog dash in front of him. I'm in a state of denial as I just lost my pet and don't know what to say.
A few days back a get a letter from this car insurance company for damage claims/reimbursement. I don't recall hitting any other vehicle, I have a perfect driving record. Read the letter and it demands about $1732.
Not sure what to do ATOT. Please advise.
