Lost a bunch of information on my comp, how to get back?

Earlier today my computer froze up although i could still use my mouse. I have a laptop and held down the power button to turn the computer off. After powering my laptop back up, I lost all of my e-mails, bookmarks, and config files for a bittorrent client (among other things). Actually, I think I still might have the files in my application data, but everytime I try to reload them or when I mess with my profiles, I can never get them back.

Does anyone know why this happened and how to fix it?

BTW, I use Firefox and Thunderbird.

Oh yeah, my cache (that's the thing that finishes links when you are typing them in, right?) and passwords were saved... odd...s

That is pretty wierd..... you might try logging on a different account to see if you can access them. I think they are probably all still there, you might also try using the recovery console. Or using a restore point from before the computer freeze.

Unfortunately I don't have any restore points... (I'm an idiot)

Anyone else have any ideas?
