Loss of Data after defrag

Last night I did a defrag on a "D" drive. Today I get home and found that one entire directory is missing all of its contents, the loss of about 600 files of various sizes. My system is Win2k, the drive is Fat32. is there any way to reterive the files, and any ideas on how this happened?

I'll give you a bump.

This is what I do know from personal experience. I too have lost data by doing a defrag. That is the reason you are supposed to backup important files that you can not afford to lose. I do not know of anything to recover defrag errors. Sorry for bad news.
