On July 23 I weighed 189. 16 days later, I now weigh 183.

I check my weight and you never notice anything, yet I check today and its like "whoa, I'm 6 lbs lighter!"

A light in my bitter day... I guess it's something to try to smile about.

Well I must be doing something right, because I can push myself longer and harder now then I could before (actually a fair bit longer), and not feel like I'm gonna keel over and die when I stop :)

Losing weight is all about number... because of the insecurity that is embedded in the person trying to lose weight. Even if a person looks thin to other people, he/she won't be satisfied until he/she gets statistical stats like a 20 pound reduction or a loss of 4-5 inches off the waist.

It's just the way that human beings depict themselves. It's embedded and numbers are definitely everything ;)

I'm sure that if you're on a quest to lose weight and you were serious about it, that you would be checking your weight everyday to make sure that you are still on the pace that you are aiming for. Even for the people who are gaining weight... they'd be on the scale everyday in order to measure their progress...

Nowhere is this seem more in weight loss programs and athletes (trying to gain weight).

Stefen - I'm sure that it was a good surprise for you to realize that you lost 6 pounds, but I'm sure that you were either too busy or not as serious as losing weight as other.
This isn't a necessarily bad thing, it's a very good thing actually... you weren't anal and you saw your rewards after a short period.. good job ;) (just know that not everybody is that way)

GoldenGuppy,

I'm actually trying to lose the weight. I have added running at night, biking to and from work, pushups/situps, stretches and eating much more healthy to my everyday life, to lose the lbs and get thin. I will add some weight training in there as well.

Stefen - that's great news, I'm training to be a certified personal trainer and that is really good to hear :)

Running is the best thing to do out there to cut the fat (along with weight training and nutrition)

It's just unusual that you didn't check your weight ;) it's really refreshing to hear though, because, as I mentioned earlier, people trying to lose weight are usually anla like that. Back in the day, I was exactly like that... so I know how it feels - part of why I am training to be a CPT :D

I wish the best of luck in your weight loss.. I hvae a few programs under my belt, and if you would like to hear them, I'd be glad to preach.

Ditto here, I've been going to the gym almost everyday too, although I haven't seen any difference yet, I've been stretching though, I can totally touch my toes now with legs straight, ha ha, I haven't done that in years.... so I see ur doing well with ur new diet, congrats :)

I have been hitting the gym pretty hard for a month, but have not lost any weight at all. On the bright side, all of my shorts are falling off of me, and I have to tighten my belt a couple more notches.

And yeah, my weight can vary by 5-7 pounds in a day, I have to kinda average it.

You replaced the flab with muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat. So you'll look thinner, but weigh the same.
