I don't get this. each time I use a ATI card, I will randomly lose signal to the monitor at least once a day or the system will freeze. I never had such problems with Nvidia cards.

Before I switched cards, I have cleared the register and wipe out all detonators as stated. A fresh install of ATI drivers were then followed by. What did I do wrong??? I still cannot figure why the system just lose signal or just freeze.

Mine does something simmilar. I cant shut my monitor off because it makes my system hang.
Example: the system is runnng, I shut the monitor off, turn it back on and then the lights on the keyboard turn amber colored and i have to do a hard shut down. BTW the monitor is displaying my desktop when it hangs.
I have a hanging light above my computer desk with a metel shade. During the middle of winter if I touch the lamp and recieve a static electric shock (even an extremely small one) my computer would do something similar to what is described above.

I occasionally lose the signal, but its usually when loading a game. For example, sometimes, when i start up GTA:VC or ST:BC, i completly miss the intro and the main menu, so i press the windows key, the picture of the desktop appears, and i just click on the games icon on the taskbar, and everything is back to normal.
Im under the impression that its a driver bug or something, cos it doesnt do it all the time.

Believe me, I've uninstalled and reinstalled all the drivers over and over again. There was once it was so bad that each time I open a MS Word document, it'll hang after 2 mins of typing document. I can't afford to lose anything while coding. :(

The drivers are up to date. It just randomly freezes. I cannot go by a day without it freezing on me. It freezes while i'm surfing or just not doing anything. When it freezes, the mouse moves but when I click the buttons on it for a few times, the pc speaker gives a beep and the mouse stops moving.

What gives.
