No, it is actually a problem of people feeling they are entitled to anything they want. Laws be damned. This has been breeding since the 60's when that claptrap first started being shoved down our collective throats by the liberal/PC crowd.

<-- Is 1/2 black and is disgusted that most of the looters are black. Disgusted but not surprised since the black community is the worst at wanting something for nothing. Work hard to make something of yourself and you are called an Uncle Tom. Do nothing and live off others and people accept you. Fvcked up culture. The Democrats have really done a number on the black community over the years.

Being half black gives no more or less credence to your statement. Blaming the activities of the looters on black community and black culture is just taking a lazy path to a quick answer in my opinion. The black community and culture that I grew up in did not have a mentality of entitlement.

You are entitled to your opinion and you have your God given right to express. I just hope you realize that the black experience in America is very diverse and that the people looting are individuals.

hey, it's a problem your own leadership has created. it's great that your community wasn't like that and i've encountered many many black people for which this is true also, but the NAACP and many of your black "leaders" do give the rest of us the impression that black people as a whole feel they are "entitled" to more than they have.

No, its a culture. A way of life.

I couldn't agree with you more. It is sad that the Democrats have basically subjegated the black community for decades yet no one seems to care since so few people are capable of realizing it. The black community needs to be speaking harshly of what is happening in NO but sadly the excuses will start flying and the apologists will start yapping....and then eventually racism will be blamed for the way the rescue efforst are going.

democrats? i'd say it's the black leadership itself that has done a number on their own people, do you ACTUALLY envision that this is what Martin King Luther Jr was dreaming about when he said "I have a dream"??

no, it's not the federal govt or the democrats that have done a number on the black community, it's the NAACP that's done it.
It's a bit of both, don't you think the NAACP has it's hooks in the political landscape too? Who would cater to such actions? Certianly not the republicans (not in their voting interests).

ok, but still, it's the NAACP selling out their own people for a little bit of political clout. the fvcking irony is, they could have done better if they had pushed for real equality and not this system of dependency.

All I have to say is all the rich people in NO the french quater etc got out of NO cause they had the money too. So whats left, the poor which I guess just by natural fscking luck they are black. And as far as black leadership is concernd the NAACP hasnt done anything for me or my people since the times of MLK. However, it does change the fact that there is a real problem in Americans and its racism and classisum(dont know if thats spelled right). All I know is that I defend the poor when ever I can because I came from a poor family and I made it. The only reason I made it is my family would live in the worst conditions to help put me thru school. I think this issue of race is not just the Black leaders responsibility but everyones. If we continue this path of creating the haves and the have nots this country will be headed for a civil war.

Where exactly did you see this sort of mentality? I lived in a decently sized city most of my life, but that was in europe so I've never actually observed anything like that.
Go to any major US city and go to the poor part of town. That attitude is overwhelming.

I grew up in an area like that. First I was attacked both verbally and mentally because I was only 1/2 black, the other 1/2 is American Indian. Then later in life when I was old enough to get a job I did so. That led to me being called an Uncle Tom. After high school I joined the USMC, best decision I ever made, saved my money and when I got out of the service I had enough to move myself, my mother, and my sister out of that area. Since then none of us have ever been back. From my experience there I would say that at least 80% of the people there were on aid of some sort and had no interest in ever working for themselves.

Oh I agree with that as well. The NAACP is a travesty and has done far more harm than it has good.

The problem with your statement is that there is no black nation in this country. I am an American. I was born here, served my country and contribute my fair share. The NAACP and other groups are groups. They don't speak for me any more than Pat Robertson speaks for Christians. I'm an American that happens to be black. I'm an American first but I'm seen as black first by most and people make assumptions based on that.

Your opinion is yours obviously but I'll say it again, the looters in New Orleans are individuals. To point to them and write people off as less than worthy is doing a disservice to yourself and those that you would write off.

You are a fcktard. Does it matter that NO is mostly black to begin with? Do you think it would be different if they were all white?

Almost everywhere in the world has looting problems. It's just not televised overseas as much as the main problem is.

These new online games where you are not locked into good or bad are proving a lot of studies sort of correct on human nature and greed.

The topic of this should be losing respect for fellow humans

perhaps they have no where or way to get out of the city. You realize it's one of the poorest places. New Orleans also has sometimes two murders a day... The state of Louisiana has almost as many murders yearly as Florida, New York and California COMBINED.

Interesting from NBC:
New Orleans Murder Rate Not In Sync With Rest Of Nation

POSTED: 1:56 pm CDT August 18, 2005

NEW ORLEANS -- Murder rates have fallen dramatically in many major U.S. cities -- but that's not happening in the Big Easy.

Although the murder rate in New Orleans is lower than it was a decade ago, it's rising and is nearly 10 times the national average.

A criminologist said the city's trend is the reverse of 46 of the top 50 cities in the United States.

Experts said the trend in the city that's home to the popular French Quarter exists for several reasons -- drugs, too few police, inexperienced prosecutors, and residents staying quiet because they fear retaliation.

They point to an experiment last year by university researchers in which police fired 700 blank rounds in a New Orleans neighborhood in a single afternoon.

No one called police to report the gunfire.

Oh the irony! Don't lump all Americans together, but lump all blacks instead!

Could we send all those anarchist protestors who stomp around the WTO meetings causing havok to New Orleans to see how they would enjoy they're preferred form of government?

Um, New Orleans is like 57% White to the 43% of non white, which is mostly black with a few hispanic and asians thrown in. This is per the Times-Picayune Newspaper census of the greater New Orleans area that the paper is distributed in.

And you can't tell me that all the white people are rich and well to do and thus were able to drive out in there BMW's and SUVs

I'm white and I'm poor, but I can gauran-damn-tee that if I lived there and was told I had to go before the hurricane hit, I would find a way to get out.

Maybe there were some lootings, but obviously not enough to report on - obviously lot less than whats going on in NO and surrounding area. And its not like lootings happened in Asia but werent reported because the tsunami and events following it got widespread media coverage.

But throw a natural disaster in the face of Americans, and all civilization breaks loose. Forget helping with the rescue effort, they'd rather go loot stores to "get back at society." Id understand if they were just looting for basic necessities...but stealing TVs??

Now dont get me wrong, I understand the impact of this disaster and cant even imagine how much they are suffering down there but in retrospect, its quite shameful how very selfish we are.

On another note, i did donate to the Asia relief fund, but Im less likely to do so this time around because all these looting incidents disgusts me.
So because of some looters you are not going to donate to help your fellow Americans?

You're an idiot.

If they are going to loot, at least they could loot stuff like food, water etc. I see many just looting expensive shoes and clothes even one guy looting a piano... how the hell is that gonna help them?

bs, i've read many of your posts, you don't stand up for poor people, you stand up for black people. EVERY time regardless of the situation.

how about the riots in LA, you stood up for the black people there to, you thought it was wrong for korean business owners (who were also not wealthy) to protect their goods and livelihood.

so quit pretending.

*Knock* *Knock* Hows it going Uncle Tom? Oh errr... I mean Medicine Bear.

I personally think this board is more f'ed up then anything thats going on in the disaster zone. Why don't you people shutup and stop whining and start donating or go out there and help if you're a doctor?

I've given some money to the Red Cross. More than I could really afford but I felt I needed to do something. The fiancee and I also took a quite a bit of clothing and bedding items to the Salvation Army Hurricane Drive last night. What have you done?

As for going there to help. For starters I doubt I could get off work. Secondly I doubt they would let me go in with full body armor and all the firepower I would require.

Agreed. C'mon, doesn't every black person have a cousin in Atlanta anyway they could go stay with? 😉
