Lose sleep over unmatched Raptors in Raid 0?

Just configured a Vista 64 install using a 1 year old 74G Raptor (8mb) and a new 74G Raptor (16mb). I initially thought cache was the only difference, but learned the new Raptor has one platter where my old one has two.

It's my first time running RAID 0 and I love it! But should I be concerned with the minor differences in the drives?

Shouldn't matter I think except that the new raptor will definitely be faster than the older one so the speed of the older one is the limiting factor.

Have decided to get another 16MB Raptor and sell my old 8MB version. I'm liking this Raid 0 thing too much to know it's not performing as well as it could... :)

The upgrade voices in my head speak again...

"When does it end? It never ends..."

I'm relieved to know i'm not the only one :p

You'd be fine running those in RAID0, but if it bothers you, go for it :)

You can RUN any drives together in RAID. It will "run." Will it run WELL? That's another story completely.

OP made a wise decision to get another 16MB cache Raptor. For optimal performance in any RAID configuration, the drives should be identical. Same make, model, size, firmware, everything.
