lose best buy some more money

went to best buy today...

bfg 6800 OC video card
half-life 2

$325 plus tax

comes with $105 mail in rebate for the combo

all said and done, after tax and the mail in rebate, i paid $240 for a nice video card and half-life 2

somehow they took off 10% off the video card for buying a game along with it...works for me 🙂

Check your receipt. If it rings HL2 up separately (as it did when I got in on the doom3 bundle) then return the game and knock another $50 off the price. Now that is sticking it to Best Buy.

I am still debating whether to get this deal; I wish I had the choice in the game I get!
What you guys think is it worth it? BB takes up to 6 months to send rebates....
I wish there was an easer deal.

Actually no, the price he is getitng is below the BB cost for those items.

Therefore, if he had not shopped there best buy would not have taken a loss on the sale.

Well, obviously you have no experience with best buy then. Because yes, this

has worked and yes they are that stupid.

Best Buy tracked their rebate now, every receipt has assigned ID and whenever you make a return before you got your rebate they'll know ASAP, and if you wait until you got your rebate, it might be too late for return....

I'm sure BB has an extended return policy for the holidays, no?

If you want to make some cash sell the card on ebay, keep Half Life2, or sell it if you like, and wait for the rebate to come in. It is funny how lots of people will buy graphic cards on eBay for retail prices. Check out what some of the 6800 gt and 6800 ultras go for.

actually, no. BB isnt taking a loss on this at all cost for the 6800 is like $202, HL2 is $3X.

also, i dont know where you all are shopping but my BB does not allow software return, just exchange

pretty sure this is standard policy, the people who were able to return it are very lucky but i'm willing to bet that chance of success of software return is fairly low

You should be able to return any software to BB so long as it's still sealed. I think they give you 30 days or something like that. Might have been extended because of the holidays though.

I've never had any problems returning sealed software. They just won't take it back if it's open. Unless it's defective, then it's an exchange only for same title.

I just also wanted to chime in BB still does make money off of this deal. Maybe barely, but they still do.
