Los Angeles: Subway to the Sea?

The Wilshire Blvd subway extension to the beach.

What do you think? Consider the whole thing:

Cost overruns
Traffic disruption in downtown
Collapsing tunnels
Methane splodions (though there's been studies on this saying not possible)
Yet another "Big Dig in LA"

But it would be pretty sweet to take the subway to the beach IMHO. And I don't even live in LA!

Nothing will ever top the Big Dig. But regardless, I say go for it. This country puts too little emphasis on public transportation. It's better late than ever to put in a subway, and eventually the benifits will be there. I've riden the LA subway many times, its a great way to get to Staples without having to drive into the city. I think Subways are awesome, and even a crappy subway like Boston's is still pretty bad ass compared to the alternative.

Construction issues seems to be a problem of crooked deals and crooked companys, which should be avoided.

I'm sure the people who live in Santa Monica will love this.... NOT
