Apparently the bastards at the Consumer Public Utilities Commission want to fsck over 3,000,000 cell phone users and take their numbers away to give to new landline numbers.

Go to one of these sites to fill out a form telling the representatives that they are making a huge stupid mistake:

www.keep310.com
www.keep909.com

I don't care because my employer supplies and pays for the cell phone. If they change my number my boss won't be able to call me. Hahahahahahahahaha...........

This is basically insane. Why would they do this? I find this really hard to believe.

Because all the illegal immigrants are getting phones and taking up our numbers.

L.A. is huge, and we'll soon be running out of phone numbers in the existing area codes. If you think about it, moving all cells to a new area code is probably the best idea. At least, you'd know you were dialing a cell when you called it.

The alternative would be to go to those fscked area code overlays where everyone has to dial an area code to phone down the street. That would cost businesses millions of dollars because they'd all have to print up new stationary, business cards and a wide range of forms, as well as changing all their advertising, worldwide, and the same inconveniences would hit everyone, personally.

It ain't pretty. It just is.

Why would it cost businesses a lot of money? Don't most normally print their area code on their documents? If they don't, then they should anyway.

Fvck I'm 310 :(

They should simply increase the number of digits in phone numbers instead of these stupid band aid measures.

Have you ever heard of letterhead, business cards and advertising materials? These are very serious expenses for most businesses.
