loose USB for wired mouse but wireless is ok

I was using a wired mouse on my laptop but it started being too loose and disconnecting a lot.
I went back to a wireless mouse with a nano receiver that doesn't seem to disconnect but it uses batteries. :-(
I prefer the wired mouse.

Has anyone seen a USB connector be tight with one but loose with another?

One possible reason could be wear and tear on the USB port or the mouse's connector itself. You could try cleaning the port gently or using a different USB port on your laptop to see if that improves the connection.

Another option is to try a different wired mouse and see if it fits more securely.
