I have two drives. My main drive is a WD 2500KS and another old seagate drive. Couple of questions:


1. My main drive is under Third IDE Master, why not Primary, I can't change this.

2. If I plug in my other drive, I go to BIOS and make it my 2nd HD. It becomes my Primary slave drive. If I restart. Windows resets and boots over and over again unless I unplug it. I try changing the setting from RAID to SATAII, but nothing happens. Everything is plugged in correctly.

3. When this happens, I can only go to safe mode, but only if I can get to the F8 screen. And then, only sometimes it will actully boot into windows.

How old is the Segate drive? I ran into a problem years ago when certain Segate drives would only work if they were primary drive on the channel.

I would suggest that your set the jumpers on the drives themselves to the proper setting master for WD and slave for Segate. I would try to avoid the Cable Select option as again older drives and some Bios do not like this setting.
