I have a T43 that I trimmed down to run only a few required startup processes and very few background programs. Everything was working smoothly for the past few weeks.
The other day I bought another 512MB RAM and installed it. Everything again was working fine.
Just yesterday, however, I started experiencing a long lag/wait time after I log in. The boot up process is fine from when i turn the computer on to when I have to log in, but after I log in it stays at the "loading preferences" for about 20 seconds and then once i get into my desktop i see the wallpaper but no task bar, icons, etc. The icons and menu appear after about a minute. This whole process used to take only about 5-10 seconds.
The computer isn't thinking heavily, it seems to just reach an extreme slowdown. Any idea what could be going on here? Again, I only have 4 startup processes going that are required and they're the same processes that I've had since I got it.
Thanks in advance for any help
