Looks like we'll need to upgrade our speaker systems...

Gamespot of all places....

Looks like Dolby Digital is going to get a nice upgrade here.

It goes from have a max bit rate of 640kbps to 6Mbps. Also, from just 5.1 channels to 13.1.

Talk about surround sound. I'm surprised they didn't add another subwoofer channel or two...

We've known about DD+ for quite some time now, but no need to be concerned about adding more speakers...it's a protocol that can support more speakers and blah blah blah, but the American public has taken long enough to adopt 5.1, so don't expect anybody to push more speakers any time soon.

But early adopters and tech nuts like me...we'll be there. 🙂

The only thing I notice that sounds a little iffy (but then again, if you're gonna have a recievier with DD+ capabillities then you'll probably have more than enough money) is will it be HDMI only? It says that it uses that versus the optical or coaxial inputs.

And yeah, sorry, I should've figured that people on here already knew about it.

Wow, can't wait, movies in 1080p and 14 channel surround sound. Not that i'll really make all that terribly much difference, but cool nonetheless.

no way in hell my wife is gonna let me add 8 more speakers to the family room. 🙂

Probably overkill except in the theater anyway. Someday when I have a theater room...
