A government investigator said last week that Donovan Wells, who lived on the land at the time, was the one who gave the FBI the tip that has sparked the intense effort to solve a legendary mystery.

was the FBI just incompetent back then?

"HEY, the guy who told us that Hoffa is dead has a big ass farm! and some new barns! hmmm... nah, why would he tell us Hoffa is dead if he did it?"

What makes Jimmy Hoffa so special? I mean, I am sure there are tons of unsolved murders every year... why is the media/authorities/public so interested in this guy specifically?

He was the head of the UAW, which was VERY powerful in the 70s.

He was head of the Teamsters at a time that the feds were really gunning for organized crime.

What I'm wondering is, if they do find him, so what? They'll know for sure he's really dead? After this amount of time, if what's left of him reveals clues, then we can hope they'll prosecute the killer(s)?

It's ancient history. The last chapter in the history books regarding Hoffa. So what?

This is costing a lot of money.

The owners are going to get a nice new barn.
