Looks like the next BF is BC3

I have bought every battlefield from 1942 through bf1 except hardline. Looking at the trajectory of bf3 > bf4 > bf1 and the cancer that is battlefront 2 I can't see myself picking this up. Was talking with friends a while back and the consensus was that they'd have to give us 2143 or a bf2 style game to get us on board and even then we'd still be hard pressed to do it.

Did you play the Bad Company games? Very different character from BF3/4/1.

As for Battlefront 2, the gameplay is quite good. EA just screwed up with the unlocking and micro transaction BS.

Personally, I would not want a new BF2 game. It was great for its day, but if you go back and play it now, you can see it has aged poorly. This has happened before when people say X game was amazing! And for its time it was. But perspective changes when looking back after seeing more modern takes.

I did and BC2 felt like the last complete battlefield game. 3 was ok but with 4, battlefront 1 and bf1 the game just felt more hollow with each release. (Multiplayer only opinion) I played the beta for Battlefront 2 and it felt the same. When I talk about making a bf2 game I'm not talking about the outdated systems but the overall feel of the game. BF2, 2142, bc2 felt like a battlefield game, the one's after that feel more and more like large scale cod games. If I wanted to play cod, I'd go play cod. Maybe it's an EA thing as Bioware games feel the same way. With each release there seems to be more filler and less meat.

I'm not thrilled for this new BF game for these same reasons. Exact same reasons.
I feel like I can't win because I now realize that EA and DICE have one goal; to make me a gambler instead of a happy gamer. They try to shove their crap down my throat every moment. Trying to remain vigilant about it is too exhausting. Easier to just not buy their stupid games.
Their priority is gambling, not gaming. That discourages me quite a damn lot.

I actually am not so worried about the MTX in Battlefield, although I admit that they could prove me wrong in BF2018. I'm just still disappointed in the focus on CQB and casualized gameplay, moving further and further away from what we had in BF2 and BF1942. Not looking for Project Reality, you know, but not arcade either.

Also to the overall post, Reddit's acting up for me right now but there were other posts by the leaker who partially retracted and said BC3 might not be the next one after all.

The rumor is no purchased loot boxes though I would not be surprised if that's just the current stance due to battlefront 2 and they will change their minds back to paid crap later.

Exactly, give me something between cod and project reality which is where battlefield use to reside.

I think one of the reasons the BF games seem worse is that they come out on top of each other. Once all the DLC is out, it's time for the next release. They should probably add another 2 years between games. It's kind of like how food taste better when you are hungry.

I couldn't get into BF1 unfortunately. I loved the old ones and played a lot of BF3&4, but BF1 fell flat for me. I think I have about 50 hours or so in the game, whereas hundreds of hours in both of the two preceding games.

They'll need to really pull it up with the next BF right from the alpha/beta for me to buy it.

Also agree on Battlefront 1&2 as both being awful. I skipped both after trying the beta. Finally got the first on a sale for $10 or something around there, was still awful after all the DLC and patches.
