Looks like the 9800 pro rides again as the bang for buck mid range AGP solution ;)

Didn't read the whole thread, but other than in D3 based games, there's not much difference between the 6600gt and the 9800p. And the 6600 vanilla is actually slower, so don't even mention it. If you really want to get a good comparison, read this article on xbitlabs

In some cases a 9800p is actually faster than a 6600gt. That being said, I think both of these cards are in the low-mid range now, and next gen midrange card will eat both of these for lunch for about $200, and yet my 9800p runs Farcry at 10x7 medium-high settings with AA/AF no problems. It's still a workhorse card, and will probably last as long as the gf4 series did, but at this point I'd save up for a newer card if I was buying one.

With regard to the SC game running at sm1.1, the developers made that choice. My card supports sm2, and if a developer forces me to run at sm1.1 (not even 1.4, because the gf4 doesnt support it), then that's one less reason for me to buy the game. There's plenty of other games that don't give me that kind of bullsh!t.
