Looks like September 12th is the day I become a daddy

Right now our little girl is 7.5 lbs. We chose to induce because my wife is small, and if she gets much bigger my wife will have to have a C-section. Now that we have a date set, I am super-hyped. I am not sure what to expect, and I know my wife is in for a hard couple of days, but in the end I think it will all be worth it when we look into Madelyn's eyes for the first time.

Life is good 🙂

Wow, I know the feeling you're going through. I had my daughter last year and it was a great feeling. Good luck with everything man!

Sept. 16th, lol. But we have been pushing for induction for a couple of weeks because my wife is small framed, and the baby is larger than average. It took this long to convince my doc, who doesn't like to induce until the last second 🙁

edit: BTW, babies grow 1/2 lb per week in the last month of pregnancy. We REALLY would have preferred this week or last to keep the baby under 8 lbs.

No offense, but don't you think the doctor knows what he/she is doing?

Sure. He is the expert. But by his own admission, baby's can be delivered anytime after the 37th week because their lungs are finished developing. He was the one who got our hopes up by saying my wife was free to deliver any time after that. As it became apparent the baby was going to go full term, we start pushing for induction. It would not have hindered the baby's development and it would have helped momma. Anyway, it's all good 😀

my wife just had our second child, the first was induced 2 weeks after the due date and was 8lbs 8oz....my wife couldnt walk without assistance for 3 weeks; shes pretty small too.

because of that the doctor who she saw during her second pregnancy assured her he would induce on the due date if she hadnt gone into labor by then...she went a few days early, he was still 8lbs (4oz) but she did rather well this time around and made a quick recovery.

heres hoping everything goes well for all of your, congratulations. oh....and i hope she sleeps well, may god help you if she ever stays up all night long. god and some caffeine pills
