Sephiroth85 has been making numerous thread bumps in the general hardware forum.

Sephiroth85 will be away for a week. When he returns, he will find his post count has been reset to zero.

Yeah, my thread has something like 100 bumps.

Wasn't there a 30 seconds delay before you can post again or something like that? Or am I thinking of some other forum?

Seems like they did have Flood Checking here for a while but it was causing problems so they turned it off.

Of course you may still be thinking of another forum because I don't think it limited to one post every 30 seconds even when it was on.

It's a waste of bandwidth and resources. If you have something to say, please, by all means say it. If you just want to notch up to the next membership level then go away.

Generally they mean nothing. To me, someone bumping their post count is doing it for nefarious reasons.

My question was more in reference to why someone would try that hard to increase their post count... what do you get from it other than a bigger number next to your name? As far as I know, you get nothing from reaching a new "membership level."

Some new trader might equate high post count with trustworthiness and get ripped off.
