Looks Like Our Boy Allawi Lost... Badly

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050203/D88190P80.html

It seems that secular, Western businessman-like Allawi (who the neocons loved so much because he promised an oil pipeline to Tel Aviv), got a whopping 19% of the vote. The Shiite Alliance got 75%.

How long before Allawi gets his head cut off in front of a camera like a piece of Halal meat? I wonder...

But you have to love democracy! When this thing is over, I bet GWB and the Neocons will practically be beggin Saddam Hussein to come back.

Bush hasn't killed anyone.. God you guys are extreme.. No wonder why you keep losing elections.

Edit.. now that I think about it, Bush has killed a lot less than 'War Crimes' Kerry too..

Should you really be talking about extremism when you say Kerry has committed war crimes? 😉

Allawi was placed there as a band-aid to tranisition Iraq from a Sunni Baath dictatorship to a democracy.

Everyone - even the United States - knew he was going to get stomped in the general election.

So....if this trend continues we have another radical religious government in the middle east with ties to iran...

Bahahahahah!!!! that's the funniest sh!t ever!

The iraqis are allowed democratic elections and they put in someone that could align with an axis of evil state.

Oh man...just when you think $200+ billion couldn't have been worse spent.

Maybe the US should judt put saddam back in power...lol!!!!

But...but...but...the Shiites said they'd develop a secular government. 😕

This was completely expected. Allawi's party still has the second highest number of votes thus far though so it's not exactly as if he's gone for good.

btw. Would all the detractors in here before the elections who claimed this vote would result in nothing but a puppet government please raise their hands and admit they were wrong?

I won't be holding my breath for the guilty ones to show up.

You guys don't know what you're talking. Now that infidels have stormed into their country, Iraqis are going to first decide they are best friends with Israel and that Christ really is their savior.

Allawi is a tool. Iraqis saw through the propaganda.

Yes. But he is OUR tool. 😀

At least Kerry had the guts to actually fight, whereas Bush just slaughters people from 30,000 feet. Hey, if you find that to be heroic, good for you.

I'll be saving your remarks and others like this so we can have a little retrospective thread in the future. We'll see how Islamic or secular this really turns out to be. Just remember, conjur is agreeing with you on your prediction so you're already pretty much doomed. 😀

Oh come on now...how many election promises have you heard over the years?!...
Fact of the matter is...the guy has ties to Iran, he has friends in iran, he's got a similar belief system to the curent iran gov't...i can't see these two countries disagreeing on much.

We'll see what happens, but last thing that the US needs right now is Iran#2. Iraq was a walk in the park compared to Iran. A quietly iraq backed iran will be even more fun 🙂

Getting the future wrong is one thing; getting the past wrong like you consistently do is quite another. Try again.

Frankly, it will be a long time before we know if that's true or whether Iraq will be like Cuba or the Phillipines in the decades immediately after the US granted them independence.

lol...no kidding, the guy has a target on his back 24/7, but for good reason, he's basically the P&N posterboy.

But don't get me wrong, i want to see peace in the region and a true democracy in iraq, and definately not an iran ally. All i'm saying is this candidate is not looking like that alternative.

I'm interested to see where this goes as well...

PS im sure as hell not hoping for what i said above...it's just my gut feeling at the moment.

Saddam Hussein had a big mouth and said a lot of anti-American stuff. Did he act against America though? Was he a threat to America? Probably not a very big one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the whole point of this charade was to remove an anti-American gov't and install a pro-American one. The Shiite Alliance is hardly pro-American. I would not be surprised if their first proclaimation will be to demand the removal of all "infidels".

What really sucks is that we didn't even get any oil of the whole Iraq war.

True. But we will know the direction this government will take in a relatively short time.

Iraqis are not used to Islamic rule and don't seem to desire it. Neither do they care to be like Iran. Does that mean their laws won't be based on Islam? No. That'd be like saying our laws are not based on Christianity. Their laws will have to align with their basic beliefs.

But those in here need to be very careful with the gloom and doom predictions. Thus far, the gloom and doom crowd has been failing miserably.

Infohawk is a girl?

I'm just waiting for the day we see open alliances between Shiite-controlled Iran and Shiite-controlled Iraq.

That's the day Bush will get a hardy [Nelson] HA HA [/Nelson] from the world. 😀

Didn't he implement a plan to assasinate Bush I?

Besides that, Saddam didn't like to do most devious things directly. He liked to be in the background in case the hammer fell and liked to keep out of the way. That's part of what made him a smart SOB and so difficult to deal with.

Well I'll correct you. You are wrong. The point was to instill a democratic government. The whole "puppet" thing was nothing but ranting from the detractors looking to spread FUD.

What really sucks is that we didn't even get any oil of the whole Iraq war.
Another point in case of FUD by the detractors. We were not there for an oil grab, regardless of the mindless chanting to the contrary.

Sounds just like Bush.

After the government takes root, we'll see how it goes. We may just wish we had a puppet government.
