Good choice except if you were hoping for a wardrobe malfunction.

Springsteen to play Super Bowl halftime show

Mon Sep 29, 5:20 AM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will play the half-time slot at the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida, snagging the most-watched musical showcase of the year, according to the organizers.

This year, more than 148 million viewers in the U.S. watched Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers play at the championship game of American football, the National Football League said on Sunday.

Other recent acts have included Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2. The most infamous performer was Janet Jackson, who bared her breast during the 2004 event, triggering a crackdown on televised smut.

The Super Bowl, scheduled for February 1, will be televised by NBC.

Oh dear god. Okay, I'm sure it could be worse, like Millie Vanillie or something... though it shouldn't be too hard to top Tom Petty's performance.

I'm just going to say it, I think Springsteen is a no-talent ass-clown. I have never enjoyed a single... ahem, single that he and his cronies have produced.

no i saw it on youtube or someones DVR or something, i dont really remember,

Now that you mention it, I barely remember any of those performances in recent years. I guess it's not all that memorable of a slot, even tho pretty coveted.

They should get some younger groups up there... like a duet between Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers. That'd be schweet.

This is one wardrobe malfunction I'd like to skip. Isn't Bruce like scary old to be diving from speaker stacks?

Yes, I am indeed kidding you... but think of the new audience they could reel in! Snag up those kids while they're in grade school, and enjoy a lifetime of football watching from them.

Never been a fan of his and I've also never been a fan of the halftime show in general.

Just saw Bruce last month or so, still rocks pretty good for an old guy. That said, I usually tune out for the half time show regardless.

I had diarrhea during that performance. Coincidence? I think not.

Yeah, I remember having diarrhea 15 years ago.

I'd like to know who's part of the group deciding half time shows. How about somebody that's not 30 years past relevancy? Everyone they've had in recent memory hasn't had a hit since the 80's.

Why not at least try and move into the 90's?

Took me 3 reads to understand the thread title before I clicked it. 🙁

Boss is good, Superbowl is good. Better combo than Prince or Janet Jackson or the other bullshit they've had recently.
