We were going to do that, but we figured we own both extended versions and have access to an 80" home theater system, so we'll have our own showing for the first two and then go to the ToRN Line party showing of the third at midnight. :)

This will be a VERY limited release.

Didn't you used to live in San Fran? I'd have thought you'd be trained to take a beating by now :p

Hmm, says ticket sales start today Oct 9. Was planning on going over there after work to pick mine up. It is kinda pricey though. $25. Yes, that is kinda pricey here in Jacksonville... :)

The showtimes on the 16th are 1, 5:30, and 10.

Why did they decide to do this on a Tuesday? Do it on a weekend, and a lot more people would be there.

Probably because they don't want to block up theater showings with LOTR1 and 2, which few people would be interested in paying for...

Because they are showing all 3 and they can't show ROTK until Wednesday or late Tuesday night.

You can go see the FOTR:EE from Friday 12/5 to 12/11 and TTT:EE from Friday 12/12 to 12/15

noooo, because all of these major releases are on wednesdays - thus the first showing is one minute after midnight that tuesday night/wednesday morning.

So, they have this deal set up so you can see the frist two through the day on Tuesday and then be there right on time for the 12:01 showing of return.

<mr burns>
excellent...

edit - hmmmm...it says tickets go on sale today, but no links to ticket sales and neither amc theaters site, nor hollywood.com, nor movietickets.com have anything about this. anyone find anyplace actually SELLING tickets?

The theaters here are going to be showing ROTK at 10PM on Tuesday rather than at 12:01 Wednesday if you have a Tuesday Trilogy Ticket. :D

This is the case nationwide I believe.

yeah, I saw that:
Then, on Tuesday, December 16, participating theaters will show a one-time-only marathon of both Extended Edition prints followed by an 11pm screening of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The official opening of the film will commence at 12:01 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2003.

the 12:01 business I can understand, but how do they work a 11pm showing the day BEFORE the opening date?

This is correct.

BTW the Trilogy is limited to about 100 locations nationwide. On only one screen per location for that day.
If you figure on 300 seats per auditorium that makes about 30,000 seats nationally. Once those sell, that is it.
