nope. but best is to use flexible health plan or some cafeteria plan. that's $3000 off your taxable income.

i went for PRK when doctors saw tissue is too thin for lasik flap. 20/20 and 20/15 on the other.

best investment i've made on myself - PRK or lasik.

PRK - 3 to 5 days that feels like somebody kicked sand into your eyes. better though coz no scar from lasik flap, or the 12-months of "no rubbing of eyes" coz there's no flap to begin with.

no side effects here such as "night halos." just followed the 3 post-op rules: don't rub/touch eyes for next few weeks; frequently use one-time use sterile eye drops, and 1000mg (or some ridiculous amount) of vitamin c every day for the next 30 days.

got it done yesterday.

I CAN SEE!

left eye is a little irrritated, like I've been wearing my contacts too long. but everything is great.

They gave me another $500 off on site. making it $3500 for both eyes.

the eye flap thing was sooo creepy.

I may put my plans on hold because this place is making me a little leery. My file was under surgeon review due to the cornea in my left eye being borderline for lasik. I've been calling for a couple weeks now trying to find out if I'm a candidate, and they keep brushing me off (saying they would call me back the next day, then not doing so). At the same time, I'll get calls from their office offering me discounted rates to schedule surgery. A couple people in relation to my family have had it done their without complications, but I'm having second thoughts. I don't like companies that negotiate surgeries as important as this.

Guess I may have to suffer through contacts for a while longer.....

ALAAAAAAARM! DIVE! DIVE! DIVE!

Seriously tho, I always told myself I'd just go to Mass. Eye & Ear Infirmary at MGH to get mine done. Something about a Lasik joint with coupons that makes me shudder (just like online universities with popup ads).

EDIT: OK at first I read this as "my surgeon's file was under review", but even still, I stand by the above. :)

Yeah, I think I'm going to call my health insurance company to see if they can recommend some surgeons in my area. It'll probably be more expensive, but you can't put a price on your eyes.

Sure can't. Here's what I'll be using to weed out the weak links once I get serious about LASIK (in the next year or so hopefully).

When they cut the nerve that helps produce tears, does the nerve grow back and do you regain regular tear function?

My father had lasik surgery, he was far sided. However after his surgery, which as you have clearly stated is in the $3,000+ range, he is very unhappy. Firstly, he is now slightly near sided, and his close up vision only improved slightly. However, looking from the back deck at the bird feeder ~15 feet away, he can see quite a bit better, still nothing drastic. Overall he wishes he had just saved his money. It didn't not eliminate the need for his glasses on many occasions and was definitely not worth the $3,400. However, i suppose if it works out as planned, it surely would be. Wasn't trying to scare you out of the procedure, just something to think about and maybe discuss with your surgeon. Regardless, good luck and I hope for the best for you.

Maybe this will fix that lack of vision you seem to have when it comes to football and the New England Patriots. ;)

Just kidding man. Good luck with the surgery.

Oh, and GO CHARGERS!!! :p

I am taking my wife to have hers done in the morning, just a few hours actually!
$3800, custom with eye-mapping and all that stuff.
Lasik Plus in Charlotte, NC.
Our insurance covers 15-25% depending on where you get it done.
