SUN (SUNW) is one I also have my eye on they are staying around $4.00 right now. I'm not sure what I want to do... but you don't lose until you sell so I think I might be putting in a buy order for $3.75

Remember how Qualcomm jumped up a huge amount towards December 1999? Well we bought some at $181 per share then. It stands at $27.77 per share right now.

I guess we really haven't lost though - we haven't sold it yet. 😉

my sister and I have a little money in some mutual funds and those things have performed horribly, much like the market has...so I'm really thinking about selling them and putting the money into stocks...but then, I know the market will go up again at some point, and the mutual funds will make up what they've lost so far too...

Oh, decisions. I only have like ~$600 in them now, my sister originally had like $1500 (she's 16), and now it's probably well below 1000. ouch.

I read somewhere in an investing magazine that Nvida could be the next Intel.

They're business strategy is sound, new products every 9 months. They have a good stronghold on the market, they've branded very well. The GeForce name is synonymous with good performance, I think the whole ATI and Nvidia gap that has been apparent until ATI's 9700 has really hurt ATI in terms of sales and marketing.

Whats a good way to buy stocks when you don't have an account open with anybody and are only looking to buy like say 20 some shares of a ten dollar stock? Or is that too trivial of an amount to even mess around with?

Datek is good for beginners with not too much money...so is etrade. Both of their transactions fees are relatively low.

Id personally like to see a headline like....."Microsoft to use AMD's new Opteron processor in the XBOX2!!"
Stock would shoot up quite a bit for them.
