Could this proclamation serve as a quit claim deed? Could just any god claim ownership? I'm feeling rather divine today.

It feels like bad grammar to begin a sentence with no other preceding statement with "whereas".

Looking at the definition of whereas, perhaps they mean to contrast themselves with all other townships on earth? That's a bit snooty.

Do they think God will be mildly impressed by their brown-nosing unto Him?

Have you read the bible? When god isn't murdering innocent children he pretty much demands brown-nosing. It's surprising he has not laid waste to every city without leaders like this.

I always found it strange that an omnipotent god would be so insecure as to require constant praise.

Anyway, Christians, Baptists especially, are mostly just annoying and preachy. At least they're not gunning people down for making cheeky drawings of Jesus.

An excellent choice of tags. Prophetic, even.

Also, I lold.

16 square miles and ~4500 people... yeah that's a shocker. They should have changed the name of their "city" to BF while they were making that insipid proclamation.
