Looks like fileplanet will do warhammer open beta

Lots of speculation been going round on forums about the open beta for warhammer online.
Fueling a lot of that has been the blog posted on fileplanet.
Over the last few days the blog has started with a different letter in bold.
The normal newsletter from mythic has also been late.

Yes, it's coming...

What's the next big beta? A question that assaults my mailbox. My answer is always the same, a knowing glance and a wicked smirk. We rarely let people know things are coming before they grace our front page as we keep things highly secretive. It's for this reason I'm thrilled to announce something stupendously huge is coming to FilePlanet. If you're not subscribed yet - I insist you do. That's all I can say right now, but have I ever written something like that before? Think hard on that, and read my upcoming blogs carefully for further information.

And much like Christmas, the anticipation of ripping open your Nintendo Power Glove is the hardest part of going to sleep the night before hyped up on candy canes and cookies. I assure you the earth-shattering mystery will be revealed in good time, and those with sharp eyes will be rewarded first. Many vigilant e-mails with suggestions I can neither confirm nor deny have graced my box lately.

Red Faction fans rejoice, FilePlanet is proud to bring you the Exclusive Xbox 360 beta to our elite subscribers. Keys are limited, so grab them while you can - we'll be distributing them in batches. Many of you have sent me e-mails with your guesses, asking if Red Faction was the beta in question...

It is NOT, the SINISTERLY HUGE BETA that has yet to be announced on FilePlanet is just so astronomical it's hard for me not to just blurt it out with glee. That being said, we still can't give it away - but keep those eyes peeled and fingers poised as all will be revealed in good time. This means if you aren't subscribed, now is the time to do it - because when the doors open to this event the FilePlanet bouncer will be checking your membership card at the door.

True, according to them their open beta is jsut a closed beta with no NDA.

Anyone know when the open beta will actually be? I see that they moved war's release date back from October to September.

They claim the live servers will be up 9/18 and I am guessing 9/15 or so for the "head start" pre-orders. I'd guess in the next 1-2 weeks to give them about a month to work out as many issues as possible that crop up.

Hmm ya WAR is not gonna be the traditional open beta...people that preordered the game will be granted access, and then im assuming they're randomly picking more that signed up on the webpage(out of the 780k that signed up)....but its not going to be open to everyone.

The only thing that would make me think that is due to the way Mythic does their betas. They're pretty screwy when it comes to that ... I remember beta testing some expansion packs for DAoC and that was a nightmare. I don't know if EA is really going to force them into a large open beta a la WoW or SW, so we'll see.

either way, i cant friggin wait....its always the worst when its getting close, yet still so far off! I'm soo tired of watching vids, looking at pics, and reading reviews, i just wanna play the damn game for myself...

Sometimes FilePlanet only allows new subscribers (that signed up after the "open" beta starts) to access the game for a week or so before letting their current subscribers (those that were subscribed before the "open" beta starts) in.
