Everyone should be happy because of G80, sure you may not want one (read: can't afford one) but other still very powerful cards drop down in price!

That's pretty good, but for $170, you can get a similarly performing Asus x1950 pro @ the egg, no rebates. It is OOS ATM, but coming back in stock on the 6th. I agree that the high end cards will become the mid range, and will be priced accordingly.

It is good hardware is advancing so much faster than the software it has to power up... with 200$ you can get a card you can play all your games on and probably nearly maxed out (and at a decent res like 1280x1024).

If you want to get a current gen 79xx series, you better not wait too long for too many price drops. Nvidia and partners are likely going to discontinue the 79xx series all together.
