So, why don't they do some sort of a digital system? Perhaps have everything controlled by little computers at each location, all tied together with cat5. Or is that how it works?

PARIS/LONDON (Reuters) - Airbus parent EADS pushed back its troubled A380 superjumbo by another year and issued a new profit warning on Tuesday, infuriating airlines like top buyer Emirates which put its purchases under review.

Anyone have some Boeing stock? I think you are going to get some lovin soon from the people that have A380s on preorder.

Yeah, you do realise that only 15% is owned by the French government, right?

Only if MD managed to push on the MD-12, the world would already have a silly double decker plane.

Airbus is looking more screwed by the month on the 380 and they can hardly give the 350 away.

Boeing's 787 is thus far on schedule and they are surely enticing the current A380 buyers with the747-8 by now, not to mention they could also buy 747-400s which are well proven and in full production.

This could be a problem.

can't send too much power over cat5.

Interestingly this is how some modern cars operate. They have power distribution, then inteligent switches and a common data line.

you wouldn't need to. You'd just use the cat5 to control let's say the wing computer, which would then control the wing through solenoids which would control the higher voltage power that actually moves things.
