In something that seem to be a rare move, A320 boards from Gigabyte, Asus, MSI and Biostar are getting ComboPI bios with Ryzen 3000 support, and dropping BR support.

PRIME A320M-K BIOS 4801
Update AM4 ComboPI 0.0.7.2A for next-gen processors and to improve CPU compatibility

Gigabyte A320M-S2H V2
  1. Update AGESA 1.0.0.2 for 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ CPU full support
Note:
1. If you are using Q-Flash Utility to update BIOS, make sure you have updated BIOS to F32 before F40
2. Due to BIOS ROM size limited, no Bristol Ridge APU support.

MSI A320M PRO-VH Plus
Description
- Update AMD ComboPI1.0.0.1
- Support new upcoming AMD cpu.
Note:
Do not update the BIOS when using the cpu listed below.
A8-9600/A6-9500E/A6-9500/A12-9800E/A12-9800/A10-9700E/A10-9700/970

So if there is no a AGESA blocking feature in there, this means A320 do in fact support Ryzen 3000, even trought it should not as originally belived. This also means that all B300/X300 boards should be also getting the update.

Can also be limited to 3000 series APU. But some lunatics will always try to shove 3700X in it. It's 65W part after all.

You know why i doubt it? Gigabyte for example is dropping BR support, when the Agesa 0.0.7.2 already had future CPU support whiout dropping BR support. I belive 0.0.7.2 has Ryzen 3000 APU microcodes in it, the from the 0.0.7.2A forward it is the full Ryzen 3000 stack. If A320 was never going to support anything more than 3200/3400G why not stick to 0.0.7.2 whiout dropping BR support?

why lunatic? it can make perfect sense for some users, they might have A320 + r3 1200 or something, and it would be a perfectly valid upgrade just switching the CPU without the need of a new MB, if the bios allows it.

I would agree that the 3900 wouldn't make sense, but, 3700x and specially 3600 it makes sense.

I intended saying it as a joke because I was ridiculed in other forum when saying that. One of them said running 1700 on A320 was not suggested just because it's an 8 core part.
I still remember that as recent as AM3+ board, some of them stated they could support FX8350, which a 125W CPU, on low end 760G board.
Ah, I find one of the board.
