Here is my current setup, on an HP 22" LCD:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 Allendale 2.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E4400

Rosewill RP600V2-S-SL 600W ATX12V v2.01 SLI Ready Power Supply

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

MSI P6N SLI-FI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

GeIL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card

What kind of upgrades should I look into (examples if you can please!) to make this computer not even have a hiccup during large scale raids and just everyday sitting around capital cities?

I'm thinking the gfx card would be best, what about this one?

Think that's all I need to upgrade? is my motherboard/psu setup correctly to handle that new card out of the box?

Yup, motherboard is fine for new video card. Is your CPU overclocked? If not, you can probably pretty easily bump it to 2.6-2.8GHz on stock cooling without voltage boosts. Also, consider doubling your RAM since it is so cheap these days.

yea, could hit up some of those combos with the $12 2gb ocz ram and a 2nd 8600gt for sli.
Looks like the best deal now is $45 after rebates for the ram and 8600gt, so nowhere close to as good as the $20 after rebates from a few days earlier.

Have you run any sort of tests to determine what part of your computer is generally holding WoW up? For example, if you turn the graphics settings down, does the game speed improve? If not, a new video card may not help much. WoW loves the CPU, and the first thing I would probably try is overclocking your CPU a bit and checking for any improvement.

It improves a little, but not too much. I'm honestly too scared to overclock, as I've never done it. 🙁

How would I go about doing this though w/ my motherboard etc? If I could get some sort of guide thru this, it might be worth it. Is there a lot of risk?

Also, does my power supply/motherboard have this 6 pin connector that is needed for this new card? It may have slipped by Zap when he replied about this, just like it slipped by me.

Have you looked inside your case? Or on newegg or wherever you got that Rosewill?

If it's less than 3yrs old and is a true 600W PSU, it will surely have at least one 6-pin PCIe power connection.

Ok, yup...it does.

1 6 pin and 1 6+2 pin, whatever that means.

How to choose a graphix card for WOW.

The 9800 will suffice for WoW.

But I Just wanted to highlight somethign else from that article...

World of Warcraft is considered to be a very much CPU limited game - this is much true... especially if you are running 5-7 RAID addons. Beef up your CPU (E8400?) and RAM (4GB) for best performance.

Would anyone be able to assist on how to overclock considering my motherboard/cpu/psu?

I just don't know what kind of steps to take. My case has plenty of ventilation, very very cool, so that shouldn't be a problem really.

If you need another info to help come up with numbers, please ask away. 🙂

OC your CPU by the guide in the CPU forum. Shoot for around 3GHz. If you're running XP, 2GB is adequate for WoW. Your weakest part is the 8600. Bump up to a 9800GT and things will be smooth on max settings.

Nice, that means the PSU has the connectors (although not necessarily the 12V current) for a top-end graphics card (these typically require 1 6pin and 1 8pin). The 6+2pin connector can act as an 8pin, or as another 6pin (e.g. if you run 2 mid-high graphics cards).

Ok so, from what I understand after reading the CPU/OC forum, is that I can probably OC my processor without stepping up the voltage at all, as long as the FSB doesn't go above 400 (due to DDR2 800 ram) and that the temp stays around 40C or so.

Is there any chance of frying my cpu just by going from 200 FSB to 300 FSB for OCing without upping the core voltage? Do I need to tweak my RAM as well?

your proc can go way higher than 40C. Keep it below 73C 100% load (Orthos Small stressing) and you'll be fine. You can go up to 1.5V on that CPU, but your cooling won't be good enough for it.

Not sure why you are sweating on this. Just follow the OC sticky in the CPU forum. No "frying" involved. Just make sure you know how to reset your BIOS in case you dial in a wrong setting and fail to boot.
