Looking to upgrade video card

My friend has a new computer with

amd 64 3200
1g ram
and a bad video card...

Which one would you suggest to upgrade too. He plays games and wants a pretty good one. The max he wants to spend is 250 and even then he would rather not spend that much.

Thx

might need better psu, but 6800GS. Oc it and you have an Ultra for 189 bux

if overclocking the 6800GS makes it better then an ultra..then ocing my 6800GT would be good too lol?

Correct. 😛 But yeah, as of now the 6800GS is the best bang for your buck. rmed64 is right though, he'll probably have to upgrade his PSU in order to get a new GPU.

There's a 6800gt in your price range in the fs/ft threads...

But I really do recommend you get a forton 450w. Nothing else for that cheap.

Yous shoudl get a new PSU and get liek a 6800gs or gt and I had personal experiance with the forton 450w its quite and very good

6800 GS definately. Get the one from XFX because I think they include Farcry and COD2 - I ordered one from eVGA because the XFX one was out of stock. I just installed it inside Epox 9npa ultra - only problem is that I can't run battlefield 2 on all medium settings. It's almost unplayable for me - It could be just me, I don't know. Also, I would upgrade the psu. It's might cause instability and might not, who knows?

Geforce eVGA 6800GS. By far, best bang for the buck. Or you can get a step up to the 7800GT with quake 4 thats 40 bucks so its only really a 260 dollar video card.
