that's pretty much my system right there, i haven't touched upgrading in a long while, and really don't want to if i can help it, so i'm looking for a nice longish term solution at video to keep playing older games. i have a dual monitor setup, 2 Dell SE198WFP's.

The game I currently play are CS, CS:S, TF2, COD4, and a few older games. Since I have't been in the Video card market for a while, i am hoping for some suggestions on upgrading. I currently am running an XFX 7900 GTX but I can't that card for sale anywhere (wanted to SLI) so i figure i'll just upgrade for the same price and get better performance for the long run.

9800GTX+ 512MBDDR3 $194 after MIR

same card except threeway SLI ready (not sure what that means) 199 after MIR

MSI R4870-T2D512 OC Radeon HD 4870 512MB 204 after MIR

I have a budget of roughly $250, but would like to keep it well under that if i could.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

ras.

Out of the 3 you list the HD4870 is the fastest one, not even a contest. And it will be more than enough to play the games you list on a 19" screen with maxed everything :)

that's terrific. looks like i'll be going back to ATI. However, how are the drivers?

No problems here (I got a HD4870 512MB too). The Cats 8.12 fixed the last few small issues I had with my HDTV (more like annoyances :p). There's also a thread about ATi vs nV drivers here somewhere, look inside it to read people's opinions.
