Hello!

I am a power user that will be definitely doing video editing and creation in the near future. What I use right now is an XP 2500+ @ 3200+ speeds with an ASUS A7V880. I'm banking on an Athlon 64, and it is no surprise because I have used Athlons since I had replaced a Pentium 233 with a 700Mhz Athlon (aside from the obvious advantages to it now).

Well, I also do more Linux work than Windows work as well. Not only that, but I do play games like Doom III and I plan on getting HL2. I noticed that HL2 runs pretty well on my system, so I'm going to hold on the video card so that I could get something better down the road.

That aside, what exactly should I save up for? I heard there is a new VIA chipset that is going to have PCI-e and an AGP slot on it, is this true? I'm betting that I should probably be looking for something with PCI-e on it, for good measure. I'm banking on saving up some money for the purchase of the following in late November or early December: [*]Athlon 64 and motherboard[*]heatsink/fan combo of my choice

I am going to get more memory (another 512 stick) between this time, so I won't need that. On Newegg, I saw that an Athlon 64 3200+, EPoX EP-8KDA3J (NF3 250gb) and a Thermaltake Silent boost totals $336.99. What CPU should I shoot for if I (a) have a job and (b) want something to last? I am not quite up on how the markets are going, hence the posting here. Should it be Socket 754, or should I gun for a 939? I won't be doing overclocking anytime soon, since they're fast enough as it is.

I would like to sell my motherboard, cpu and heatsink/fan (SLK-800A with an 80mm Thermaltake Smart Case Fan II) when I buy these parts too. What do you think I could get for them? the motherboard is an A7V880 and the CPU is an Athlon XP 2500+ (Factory-unlocked multipliers...NOT the mobile CPU).
