Looking To Upgrade - From ATI 1900XT

LouPoir

Lifer
I've got a Conroe rig ( see signature ) and I am thinking about upgrading the video card from a ATI 1900XT to ??? -

What are the top performance cards out there now and what kind of improvements will I see - 7950GT, 7950GX2, 1950XT?

Is it worth the investment?

Tom's hardware had done VGA Charts review but I have not seen one in awhile.

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Lou

7950GT = downgrade

7950GX2 = quite large imporvement

X1950XTX = few frames improvement

i think you should just wait until holiday seasons for price droppings and new versions of cards

ROFL I just got a x1900xt and your already thinking about upgrading. IMO this card is the best for price.

I agree. I have it OC'ed past XTX speeds. $240 for a 256mb X1900XTX! Not bad! 😉

No point in upgrading to another single card. If you really need something faster you would probably have to look at Crossfiring that card if your mobo supports it. Honestly, I don't think it's warranted in your case. That card should handle whatever you throw at it for the next year or so pretty easily.

On second thought if you have money to burn get the 7950GX2 although if I were you I would OC the card and get 2gig more ram...

What this guy said. G80 is around nov/dec while R600 maybe next year. You could grab a EVGA 7950GX2 for step up if you really want to upgrade.
