Looking to replace the front usb ports in my case.

Where do I purchase a replacement front USB port cable for my case. The front usb access cable that comes attached to the front of the case and runs to the USB MB plug-in. Is there a specific name for this cable? Thanks in advance.

It's just standard USB cable - buy a USB printer cable for $2.00 and cut it up the way you need. Or you can check here: http://www.frontx.com . They have lots of cable parts, maybe something will suit.

. If you don't have a free floppy bay then you can get a bay adapter for a 5" bay. Silverstone and Lian Li etc. sell nice looking ones that will match the ports panel. Sometimes a better bottom line can be had from other than the Egg.

You can try Performance-PCs. It depends on what case you have, and you don't mention what case it is.

Boyo has a good idea too. If we knew what Brand and Model your case is, there might be a more specific solution. You can buy front port assemblies for Lian Li cases at the site above site and for Antec and similar from the Antec store. If your case is not a big name, then pix of both ends of the cable and the front panel PCB (circuit board) would help a lot. That is if you want a tightly specific solution.

My case is old and out of production. I don't remember the name. I think I found what I am looking for. I have a second case with the front USB not working I may be able to install this in too. Planning to build a C2D gaming system for my son's friend and his budget is limited. He bought my 19" monitor to trade a kid for a C2D CPU and ASUS MB. I have this old gaming case with a glass side panel stored away and I remember the front USB port does not work. I may even have an old 3.5 port panel I can use in the garage. I'll pull the case out and check it out. I think I'll one of these. Thanks for the link.

Hrm... I digress...

I've got an accessory memory card reader in the front of my case (digital camera mem card reader). When I was looking around for it, it seems like they have all sorts of different ones out there -- including USB ports -- and FireWire ports -- with cables -- and all sorts of permutations of same.

If it was me, I'd see if I could find something like that!

Hell, you can probably but a floppy drive with USB ports in it these days, including a *free* cable... 😉
