Twotenths: mfenn wasn't talking about your build when he said "a little chintzy". Plus, your build's motherboard is a bit rich for a non-overclocking, no SLI/CFX build (and WiFi is only like $10 for a USB dongle). The TR2 also isn't that great of a PSU.

On the other hand, that SSD and CPU aren't awful choices, and I think 16GB of RAM is helpful for the ocassional photo/video edit.

I misquoted the motherboard version. It is still a P8Z77-V but is the LK version.

I know I'm digging up an old thread here.

I took Twotenths advice and upgraded my HDD to an SSD, and it did make quite a bit of difference. The computer as of lately though, is starting to have more and more problems.

Their was a couple of times when using it, that it just crashes and the screen stars showing a bunch of colored lines and flashes. It makes a weird sound through the speakers as well, only way to fix it, is to reboot computer.

Also the fans on my computer are starting to go out and the bearings are loud. I'm not sure if its due to ground noise, feedback, etc. Speakers also crack and make strange noises from time to time just sitting there. Computer is going on about 6 years old, so I think an upgrade is in order.

I was going to purchase today, but though building would be cheaper and more entertaining.

I don't see much use in me having a huge tower sitting on my desk anymore, that's why I was learning towards a Mini ITX build or all in one computer.

I appreciated all the ideas from before, what would be the newer updated parts though as of today?

I can re-answer the questions again if need be.

Since this thread is from 2013, I would suggest creating a fresh thread in General Hardware, and answer the questions again (the situation might have changed in several years). You can link back to this thread in the OP if you like.

Edit: For certain though, the hardware on the market has changed quite a bit, and recommendations are definitely going to be different.

Agree. Appending a new build request to the end of a 2013 one will cause some confusion and delay getting good answers. I'm going to lock this one to keep things simple.
